Garden Programs Grow Greener Kids
by Beth Buczynski
If you’re interested in raising more environmentally conscious kids (and maybe learning a thing or two about gardens as well) check out the “Read and Seed” program that is offered at the Gardens on Spring Creek in Fort Collins during the school year.
Specifically designed for pre-school children ages 1-5 and their parents, the “Read and Seed” program incorporates reading, singing and games with seasonal garden-based themes so that children can learn to appreciate all of the wonderful parts of growing food at an early age.
“Read and Seed” meets at The Gardens on Spring Creek in Fort Collins on Tuesdays from 10-10:30 am, and although no registration is required, parents are encouraged to donate $1 per child to help raise money for new gardens and facilities. Also keep in mind that “Read and Seed” will follow the Poudre School District calendar and will not meet on Tuesdays when school is not in session.
